The Dropshot requires a soft tip in order to animate your rig smoothly while keeping the lead on the bottom. This technique can be very effective to fish very slowly the structures. As the lure is not weighted, the fish can easily engulf it. That’s why when they don’t bite hard, this technique is so effective. As the tip is soft, you can also use it as a secondary rod with a small dead fish on a Dropshot rig. When the fish bites, the bite will be instantly visible on the tip, but due to its softness, the fish will not feel anything and will not spit out the bait, giving you plenty of time to strike, and it is the perfect rod for fishing with light lures. Thanks to its soft tip, this is the part that works during the animation phases. On the other hand, as soon as you get a hit, the reactivity of the blank and the power reserve ensure an efficient strike. In order to allow you to carry your rod mounted, we have replaced the traditional lure-hook by one specially adapted for Dropshot rigs. In the new Yasei range, we have two Dropshot & Light Jig rods : a 210ML and a 240M. The 210ML is designed to fish with light Dropshot rigs and small lures in boats or from the shore when you don’t need to cast very far or when there is not too much current. The 240M is a little longer and more powerful, ideal for casting farther and fishing heavier. It is the perfect rod for fishing rivers from shore.
